Dravo Park
Here in Dravo park there are remnants of an old broken down train bridge that had once run a crossed the little Miami river. The bridge in now covered in graffiti and nature is forcing the bridge to crumble into pieces. In Dravo park, the sky is always grey, the mood is always somber. to bring this feeling of dread further into the heart of the park we decieded to draw a decaying dear.
This drawing was particularly difficult, because we didn't want the subject to be to ambiguous or to obvious. the wind was harsh this day, and we ended up having to go over the drawing several times to make it last.
In this drawing we also felt like we were walking the line of graffiti. As chalk is one of the purest forms of pigments, it does not hurt the environment and is easily washable, we do not feel as though our art usually falls into this category. However with harsher and possibly more disturbing content we wonder where the line is drawn. does it matter the material or is more emphasis placed on subject.
after returning to the drawing three days later it seemed some kids had drawn around the piece. a heart, the words "Arf, Arf, Arf" and an X can be found scattered around the drawing.
